I began learning to play the Great Highland Bagpipe in 2005, when I was in just seventh grade. A couple of years later I joined Clan Donald Pipes and Drums. I serve as Pipe Sergeant for the band, filling in for the Pipe Major as necessary and teaching new members. I have been competing on and off since then and have reached Grade III in the MWPBA.
In 2018 I graduated from Lawrence University with a degree in Instrumental Music Education. I have experienced Western Classical music in lots of forms, but have been disappointed by the absence of bagpipes in the instrumentation. I have since played the pipes alongside Gaelic Storm, the Appleton City Band, the Bobby Evans Band, and others who wanted to use the pipes to augment their sound.
I love bagpipes in every form and every musical genre. I believe that bagpipes should be an accessible instrument to anyone who wants to hear them or wants to learn them; that's why I've created this site. If you want a piper at your event, or if you want to learn to play the pipes, please get in touch with me. I would love to work something out.
